About Suzy
I was born in a small coal-mining town in Eastern Kentucky, and am one of six children. My parents grew our family through the international adoption of two sons.
Upon graduating, with honors, from the University of Kentucky, I moved to Central Florida. My career in hospitality began at the Walt Disney World Co. where I joined with colleagues in founding the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality’s Orlando chapter. I was also awarded several employee awards, and among them is Walt Disney World’s highest, the Partners in Excellence Award.
My husband is a local physician who is actively involved with foreign medical missions. He has participated in medical mission trips to Mexico, Ecuador, and Ethiopia, working alongside and training local physicians. I have had the incredible opportunity to accompany him in this important work.
After the birth of my first child, I made the decision to become a full-time parent. This decision allowed me to focus on the development of my children, and gave me the opportunity to enhance their education at home. (This summer we are working on a project to grow hydroponic tomatoes).
My community involvement has also blossomed. In working hands-on with children through school, civic, and church volunteering, I have come to know and understand the many needs that face our community.
With your support, I will be your voice on the Ocala City Council.
